About Services
Services
We offer many services to help you get the care you need. If you have a need that can not be met by one of the services below, please reach out and we can talk about how we still might be able help you!
Doula Services
Starting in April 2023 ADAPSS will be offering abortion doula services, and later in the year we also hope to be able to start offering other doula services as well.
An abortion doula is someone who provides people with mental, emotional, social, and physical support, before, during, and after an abortion.
Our abortion doulas are trained and certified from credible institutions as doulas, and they are also required to hold a CPR certification. Some are further trained and certified in the fields of medicine, phycology, sex education, and social activism.
Transportation
Our transportation services are our oldest program, and actually where the org started back when it was NC Harm Redux. We provide transportation to help people make their appointments. Weather its a ride with one of our trained volunteers, help with paying for a lyft, train, airplane, ect, we understand that many people in our in person service area (as well as outside) face huge literal physical barriers in accessing their abortions, along with social ones, and we are dedicated to working to close those gaps, even if its one ride at a time.
Child Care
Did you know that about 60% of people who are getting an abortion already have a child (or often multiple children)? We understand that not having childcare for appointments, travel time, and recovery, can be a big barrier, and stressor on someone trying to get an abortion.
Our child care services set you up with a trained volunteer who can watch your children while you are getting your abortion. Child care volunteers are CPR trained, and have child care experience.
Financial Support Services
While currently we are mostly a practical support organization (meaning we help with things like emotional support, travel, and child care) and not an abortion fund, we can, have, and do help people pay for their abolitions.
We do this by first, recourses connection, this means we help you navigate other organizations, and abortion funds to help you find funding, and if that does not work we find away to get the money too you though our mutual aid networks.
Finances should never be the thing that stops you from getting the care you need, and we promise to help in every way we can!
In addition to this, please note that our services are absolutely FREE to EVERYONE, however if you would like to donate to NC ADAPSS to help others get care our cash app is on the "Get Involved" page of this website.

Appointment support can mean a few things. We help with actually getting the appointment, but also can come with you to help you in the lobby, or in the exam room, if the clinic allows, to act as a support person, companion, and advocate.

Education (birth control/STD)
This service is here for you if you have any questions about birth control or STD's. Mostly we do education over the phone, or on zoom, but also can do it in person if you prefer.
Our educators are trained sex educators and would be happy to answer all your questions, as well as provide information.
Do you need help knowing what kind of birth control would work best for you? Do you have questions about PrEP? Would you like to talk about safer sex practices? We are here for all of that and more!
Getting Emergency Contraception (aka plan b)
If you need help getting an Emergency Contraceptive pill feel free to reach out to us! We can, and do provide free pills, however we also ask that those who can (and don't worry if you cant!) help with a small donation of $5-15 for EC pills.
You can also always pick up an EC pill for $15 at the Wake County Health Department at 10 Sunnybrook Rd, in Raleigh NC, 27601. You can also look at the resources page for more ideas about how to get EC pills.
